During sessions, we start with guided meditation or practicing self-regulation strategies, such as grounding, deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, body scanning, mindfulness, sound bath, or gentle expressive movements. These techniques support emotional wellbeing and trauma-informed creative practice.
During sessions, we explore what is present for the client through the use of various materials provided, which includes instruments, visual arts, dance and role play props, collaging, clay, crafts, recyclable materials and more. Participants engage with these materials as part of a therapeutic arts therapy process.
From each unfolding moment, we notice what emerges in clients’ emotional and physical sensations, memory, thoughts, engagement with materials, and reflection of creations. This encourages self-expression, insight, and the therapeutic benefits of arts therapy.
